Life At Matriculation

So far the life at KMS is okay. The facilities are not complete yet: no laundry service, no iron provided, no library yet, no gym, and most importantly, this place is so super damn hot. Nevertheless, I tried my best to have fun. I joined in the choir team to sing for the Closing Ceremony for MPPB(Majlis Penutupan Pelajar Baru) and became the keyboardist accidentally. More photos will come later. Yesterday was the last day of my torturing orientation week and I made it through!! I got some new friends and they are all great people, especially the chinese and indians. I will officially commence my lectures next week. Wish me luck yea!

To Never Look Back..

I had never thought that making a decision is that hard and painful until now. All the while, I had been the one giving advices and guiding them to decide their future pathways at recom. Ironically, I am the one that needs enlightenment desperately: to accept matriculation offer or to fork out parents' money to study A-level. Yes, I turned down the offer to pursue Telecommunication Engineering under Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) because this is not my desired course.

I was told by seniors to gather the pros and cons of both matriculation and A-level and make my decision based on where I would like to study at in future. After contemplating all aspects, I decided to challenge the less favorable road - matriculation. Since God intervened my initial plan and gave me this chance, I figured that it is better for me to grab it rather than feeling disgruntled that I will lose my chance to pursue my undergraduate study overseas, scholarships application, so on and so forth. One will never know what is at the end of the tunnel before he or she go through it and I believe that whichever choice I made, the light awaits me.

I will strive and I will conquer.

Also, I want to thank my friends that were willing to hear my thoughts and gave me some of their insights on the choices available. I really appreciate the advices you all gave me and it helped me a lot. As cliche as it may sound, nobody is a better decision-maker other than yourself. Be wise in making it and never look back after that.

High School Memorable Events Part II

*Sets up microphone and speaker* *Episode starts in three, two, one... go*

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Its me, Ke Yang again! I know you guys missed me. Don't deny it. Yes its you. Don't look at the one beside you, its not him or her. I mean you, the one that is reading it right now. Hahaha! Now that I am here, allow me to present you the second episode of Fun Times of 5 Science 1, 2009. *Drum rolls*

#3 Vikhna versus Ho @ 5 Science 1
These two are the "friendly enemies" to each other ever since Form 1 or maybe even earlier(from primary school). They always teases one another, especially Ho that teases Vikhna by creating all sorts of "nicknames" for her. Lets see what nicknames vikhna got:

Bookgenapriya --> vikhnapapaya ---> vikhnapriakkk --> (Places reserved for more to come, anyone got more to add on? LOL!)

Not to forget Ho used to tease Vikhna about her darker-coloured skin among the Indians in our class. There was one time when we attended the prefects' dinner at the hall of my school(we were prefects). When Ho saw Vikhna, he went over and teased her again:

Ho: Vikhna, if you go out now, nobody will see you except your eyes and your teeth.
Us: *Giggles*
Vikhna: *Smiles fakely* *Reached out her hand and wanted to hit Ho*
Ho: *Dodges*

You guys should know which one is her with my splendid, brilliant and perfect description! ;)
And then there's the teasing part during the vocational and technique week where Vikhan teamed up with Khartia to cook fried rice. Shhh, its against the rules, don't tell others about it. We sneaked to the area by using our prefect's right illegally and took some pictures. Hehe!

Ho: Madam Vikhna, you look like a mum!
Us: *Laughs*
Vikhna: *Takes the square turner and warns Ho to keep his mouth zipped before she whips him with the turner*

Vikhna, you got the mama look and the potential to be a good housewife!
Ah, this is endless. I guess I will stop it here for now.

#4 Talkative class @ 5 Science 1
Our talkative nature is intrinsic and undeniable. We are the noisiest and the most playful class ever existed. We can talk at everywhere: when teacher is teaching in front, during tuition class and even at EXAM TIMES!! Well, its PJK exam but who cares, we talked anyway. Pity Pn. Anizawati(the teacher in charge) as she got a headache in keeping us as silent as possible.

One of the most talkative person I have ever met, especially when he's in our class, is our beloved Ho. The way he greeted the teachers will leave a deep impression on them. The best example is with our dear Pn. Fazidah (BM teacher).

Teacher: *Enters the class*
Class monitor: Bangun, selamat pagi, cikgu.
Ho: *Especially loud* SELAMAT PAGI, CIKGU!!
Teacher: *Frightened with her hand on her chest*
Us: *Laughs*

Small note to teachers: If you got heart attack, demand a reimbursement from Ho. (Touch wood) =D

He even talked a lot when teacher is teaching in class. Don't believe me? Have a look on the picture below then.

I on the other hand, is the most quiet one in the class. *Ahem ahem* You didn't read it wrongly. Its me!

High school had been great for me. I went through the ups and downs with my friends. We persevered and endured every trial and tribulations together. Thank you my friends for everything that you all gave me. I will never forget the moment we shed tears together, be it tears of happiness or sadness, the moment we broke the school rules and had fun. You all will be in my heart and always be my best friends forever. Until then, farewell and take care my friends, as we embark on different roads. Wish you all good luck in your future endeavours. =)

High School Memorable Events Part I

Since many of us will be starting our college life soon, which some already did, I guess it will be good for me to dedicate a few posts to commemorate our special moments during high school. Special thanks to Leowanie for inspiring me to write this post through her Facebook notes:

Good evening, guys and gals. Ke Yang is here. As you all know, our batch is the most playful, noisiest and the laziest batch ever existed in the history of MES. So, tonight, we have a special edition of Fun Times of SPM 2009 Batch, coming up in just a second. Enjoy the show. *Drum rolls*

#1 Prank for our class teacher, Pn. Moga on her birthday @ 5 Science 1 class
Its our beloved Mathematics and Additional Mathematics as well as class teacher's, Pn. Moga birthday! Shhh, don't let her know we are planning something behind her back. *Sneers* We "brainstormed" and decided to pull a prank before giving her a surprise party. What could be more interesting other than a heated fight between two hot tempered students?

Me: Karthi, what plans do we have today?
Karthi: *whispered in our ears*
Us: *Giggles*
Karthi: Ho, Gan, we need your help. Can you guys pretend you quarrelled and fought in the class?
Ho & Gan: Sure.
Me: Eik, Seow, come help Ho "make up".
Eik & Seow: *Pull tie, loosen buttons, pull out shirt, make the hair messy and keep their specs*
Us: Whoa, Fei Lou Ho, you look like a gangster leh!!
Class: *Gather around* *Whistles*

Tadaa!!
(Urgh, sorry guys, no clearer picture are taken >.<)
Everything went perfectly as planned. So, we send our "ambassador" Diva-gundu to coax our teacher that our class was in pandemonium and we needed her desperately. Luckily, we prevailed.

Teacher: *Enters the class* *Shocked to see the messy class and both Ho and Gan at their edge*
Teacher: What happened, Gan? Why you fight in class?
Liyana: *Enters the class from back door quietly* *Shows sign*
Class: Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you.... *continues singing*

And this is our teacher's response when she found out we conned her:
I bet our teacher experienced an emotion that mingled shock, happiness, anger and somehow relieved that its just an act. *laughs*

Teacher: *Speechless for a long while*
Teacher: Later I give you all testimonial B.
Class: *Laughs hysterically*
Ho: Teacher, you always say that but we know you won't do that, right? Right?? *Cast innocent eyes on teacher*
Teacher: *Teases* This time, I will give you all a B.
Us: *Never worried. Thats a typical Pn. Moga move.*

And then, we ate the cakes and gave presents to our beloved teacher. Although the gifts we gave to teacher were not opulent, but I am sure this will be a memorable birthday party that she can reminisce for many years to come. *Smiles*

#2 Bragging session with our "blow cow" sifu, Seow @ KFC
I still remember the gathering we had at KFC with Seow. Those that attended were me, Ho, Ern Eik, Kok Yee, Seow, Gan and the girls.

Seow: Hey, you all know what animal has the most number of bones?
Us: *Look at each other, puzzled*
Gan: Fish.
Me: Elephant?
Ho: Dinosaur sure got more lor.
Eik: Seconded Ho.
Seow: All wrong. *smirks*
Us: Then what is it?
Seow: Sea cucumber.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to present to you this small, warm-like creature that wriggles on the sea floor. In case you don't recognise it, it is called sea cucumber.
Us: *crow flew above the head and this look----> =____=*
Seow: Its real one, the sea cucumbers got thousands of bones, tiny tiny one you know....
Kok Yee: Where you hear this one? So not true...
Seow: I heard it on radio yesterday. I am sure it is 100% true.
Me: Impossible.
Seow: What impossible. The deejay won't lie to their listeners lo.
Me: Maybe you heard wrongly.

And so the debate continues.. It ended up with Seow determined to proof he is the right one by searching it online. I forgot he got proved it correct or not, nevertheless, I don't think its necessary since its just a joke. Next:

Seow: Do you know that there is a small people country? People are all short and small small one. (In chinese its called 小人国)
Us: *Broke out in laughter*
Us: Urgh... Seow, don't be ridiculous.
Seow: *Serious face*
Seow: Ya lar. Its located at some where around Egypt.
Us: *Continue laughing until stomach pain*

And so, we decided Seow watch too much movies and dramas, especially Journey to the West. Next:

Seow: Do you know that we can ride bike on Great Wall of China?
Us: *Laughs again*
Us: Who told you that?
Seow: My mum.
Us: And so you believed your mum? Maybe she was just kidding with you.
Seow: *Debated with us*
Us: Seow, you go ride the bike on Great Wall of China and take a picture for us to see so that it proof your statement is the correct one.
Us: *Trying not to smile because our cheek and stomach are in pain already*

This is how it looks like when we combine mini people with a hiking to Great Wall of China on bicycle. Gambatte, you hobbits!!
The time I spent together with Seow were indeed very memorable and often hilarious. Thank you Seow for being my friend. I am sure every classmate agrees with me. *Winks*

Hulu Selangor By-Election Eve

Disclaimer: below is the author's opinion on political issue.

Oh yeah, tomorrow is the Hulu Selangor by-election which is so near Tanjong Malim. As everyone knows, this by-election is to find a candidate to replace PKR MP Zainal Abidin, who died last month. This is going to be an interesting battle-Barisan Nasional versus Pakatan Rakyat. P. Kamalanathan, 44, MIC information chief, will be representing BN while Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, 59, former minister in the Prime Minister's Department, will be representing PR. These two candidates themselves are of special ones. Kamalanathan was described as the epitome of 1Malaysia as his name consists of the three main ethnics in Malaysia-Kamal is Malay name, than is similar to tan which is the surname of chinese families, and nathan is indian name. On the other hand, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim is a lawyer graduate. We can use some of his eloquence in speaking for the people in the parliament. His wealthiness was debated because the opposition thought that rich people cannot understand the poorer ones. Nonetheless, who cares? As long as he serve people whole-heartedly, he will be accepted. I have to admit that both of the parties chose good candidates for themselves. If only the parties are as wise in making their decisions and taking their actions for every other matter...

Okay, I know I am not eligible to vote yet and I will not make my stand on any parties but political fights are alway interesting: you can see how the candidates and parties go around having their campaigns to boast about their "goodness", brag about how they are going to change the place if they mandate and stab the back of the other parties and candidates. They can be so free to visit the whole Hulu Selangor before the election, pretending to care about the people's welfare to pull votes for themselves. However, after the election, their visits will usually be once in a blue moon or sometimes, none at all. Oh yeah, you can say they might be very busy but occasional visits are necessary to understand what people need. Papers don't talk, humans do. A few years back from now, I was perplexed when they said our country consists of political clowns. Now, I finally understood what they meant.

So much with asking the citizens to go green, save the environment, stop global warming so on and so forth, when the parties just go around and paste the picture of their candidates, logos of their parties at almost every where. You can spot their "advertisements" at every corner, wall, street lamps, wires and any place that they can put on to publicise themselves. Did they think they are that handsome to post their pictures every where to remind others about it? Or did they thought we came out from jungles to vote? Its not that we are foreigners that don't read newspaper or don't know what is the white-scale-with-blue-background logo belongs to which party. After the election, do they collect back those papers to recycle them? Hell yeah if I would not believe them, not even the slightest bit, even if they say they will because they are famous for their empty promises.

What do I like about having an election? Well, we can ask for money. And when I said ask for money, I meant a prodigious amount of money. The parties are very kind and generous during these times. You can hear them saying hundreds of thousands for this project, another hundreds of thousands for primary and secondary schools. How can we not admit they are generous? Every project will have extra budget, schools can be renovated, and you can have a chance to meet with all the Menteri Besar, and in this case, our Prime Minister. Oh yeah, our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib visited Tanjong Malim today. Tomorrow, I might appear on the newspaper headline, so check it out! I don't mean to be so sarcastic but thats the truth. Everyone knows it and I am sure you have your own thought for this matter.

Well, thats all for now. Who do you think will win: the BN with Najib as its leader together with his so-called-1Malaysia or the PR with their we-will-do-what-BN-failed-to-do? We will see when the time comes. Cheers. =D

Yet Another Gathering-Farewell, My Beloved Friends

Last Saturday night, I attended a gathering with my friends. The original plan to have a BBQ session was cancelled and it was replaced by steamboat-cheaper and easier to be done. After having such a long holiday, it had finally coming to an end, especially for those that are going to start their Form 6 and some starting their A-levels at Tunku Abdul Rahman College. As for me, I will go for my matriculation first while waiting for my JPA. This might be the last time I will gather with you all! Farewell, my beloved friends.

JPA Interview

I just want to share what I went through during the interview with you guys and also give you all some idea on how the interview was being held.

What is written below is an edited version. Things that I do not feel like telling is filtered out, so that I still have room for privacy.

Venue: Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh

Course Applied: France Engineering

Time: 2p.m.

Experience: My group consist of 5 person: 2 boys, 3 girls. 1 malay girl and the rest were chinese. I'm the fifth person and also the last person of the batch. 3 of them applied engineering (including me), one applied social science and another applied economy.

Introduction in BM. We talked about our personal particulars, family background, coco achievements, course applied and why you chose that course. When answering the questions, please be careful with your words because they will shoot you back with your answers. I think i did well in this part until the end part. They asked me to name 3 buildings in France and i screwed that up because i don't know the buildings at France!! I knew eiffel tower but was too nervous to think of it!! They also ask me to say some basic French. I told them words like "bonjour" and "mercy". Then one of the interviewers asked me what is air in french and i cannot answer that as well!! Also, they provoked me by saying I chose France because the girls there are hot. So, beware of the interviewers' tricks.

Discussion done partly in english and partly in bm.

1. Discuss about the quality of water in Malaysia.
It was okay with me until the interviewer start to shoot questions at us. The discussion was done in english. Then, the questioning part starts with bm. Ask our opinion on the water quality was not so good when government was in charge of it but the quality becomes better when NGO took over, which one is better, NGO or government and how do we save water. I was the last one to say out how to save water and all my ideas was said by the other four interviewees, leaving myself elaborating their ideas. So, be sure to answer it first!!

Individual part they asked us to nominate a candidate in the room if only one of us can be chosen to go overseas. I chose a girl and gave my reasons. However, I think I should have chosen myself as the one but not others. There was one boy with me that chose himself and the interviewers even joked "now you see the true face of your friends" and we all laughed about it. Some questions regarding New Economic Model, how it helped to bring our economy back to normal level and role of economist in it was asked as I chose the girl that want to study economy.

Lastly, they asked us if we got anything to ask and we didn't ask any questions. Then the interview session ended. The whole session took about one hour.

All in all, the interviewers was quite nice and friendly. The session was more towards a chatting session. So don't be too nervous.

Rating: You all please do rate me after reading it!!

Advices for juniors:
1. Sell yourself if they ask you to nominate a candidate. Show your confidence and mention your strength which makes you special enough to be the one.
2. Drink water before going in. It might be a long interview inside there.
3. Eat until you are very full and make sure you get enough sleep the night before. I was so hungry after the interview even when I ate my lunch before going for the interview.
4. Answer the questions first if you know the answer. Don't let go of your chance to outshine others.
